| Sometimes strange things spark a random thought that I wish I could share. So! For your annoyance enjoyment: I just read that high-seas piracy is on the rise*. Being a devout lover of the Flying Spaghetti Monster I was quick to realize this is good news on the environmental front. Everyone knows the global mean temperature is inversely proportional to the number of pirates**. I'm not sure when I started citing my message board posts... now?* NPR. Piracy Flourishes Along Crucial Shipping Lane. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93893918**Letter from CFSM to Kansas School Board. http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/

I was born at Pontiac Ostiopathic hospital. Lived in Pontiac until I was 10. Moved to Genesee, a small town outside of Flint. Went to college at Alma, 45 minutes north of MSU. Not in Michigan any more. After finishing college I went to grad school of Indiana University, finished my Masters in a year and my wife and I moved to Arkansas when we both found good jobs.

Right on! I was born at St. Joseph's in Pontiac and lived there until I joined the Army at 18. Then I lived in Georgia, Korea, and Washington DC. Then I returned to Michigan for undergraduate at MSU. Now I'm at University of Washington working on my PhD. I could stop at the end of this quarter with my masters, but a masters in chemistry isn't that great considering how much work you put in to get it and the small boost it gives you over a BS. A PhD will open many more doors.

I completely understand. I originally wanted to get my PhD in History. I was told that if I wanted to teach, as I did at the time, a masters was practically useless since so many people have PhD's I would be extremely under qualified. Keep up the hard work for that PhD.

Haha!!!!! I just had to share this... Also, it makes me laugh that I have room for 0.600000000036 trained units in my barracks. I understand why it does that, but does the adding error have to be so precise? I mean, I study numbers for a living and almost never do I go out to this many decimal points. In fact, it suggests that you know that many significant figures, but I know they don't because the basis of the math is 1 unit, so therefore the significant figure should only be one digit.
