PM = place marker
SM = slip marker
K = knit
SSK = slip, slip, knit
S1 = Slip 1
PSSO = pass slipped
STS = stiches
MC (main color) = brown
CC (contrasting color) = white
WS = wrong side
Pattern
Using MC cast on 86 sts to size 8 circular needles
Place marker and join for knitting in the round. Bind off first stitch to close gap. 85 sts
Knit in stockinette for 16 rows
Knit until sack measures 10.5” from rolled edge
Switch to CC and knit for 1”
Switch to MC and knit 1 round
Set up for decreases: Move marker back on stitch.
*Knit 17, PM repeat from * to last 2 sts before 1st marker (note: the beginning marker should be a different color than the other markers to keep track of the start of the round.)
Decreases start 2 stitches before marker
Round 1: *K2tog, SM, SSK, knit to 2 sts before next marker and repeat from *
Round 2: Knit
Repeat rounds 1 & 2 until there are 3 sts between each marker
Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches
Weave in ends
Using CC embroider the laces
